
Sports Performance Coach

POSITION SUMMARY
The Sports Performance Coach is responsible for developing, implementing, and teaching the speed and strength programs designed by the BSP team. This programming will entail all aspects of strength, mobility, speed, agility, conditioning and recovery for adult and youth athletes in the New Orleans area. This individual should have the interpersonal and professional skills to work with a multitude of clients both individually and in large groups including in the high school and collegiate setting.
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITES Develop, administer, and implement strength and conditioning programs for youth and adult athletes.
Design, organize, administer, supervise and implement off season, pre season, in season, and post season sport specific strength and conditioning programs
Strength and Conditioning Program design are to be based upon appropriate scientific-based periodization models, taking into consideration transition periods, appropriate athlete skills, development levels, and sport- specific requirements
Design, supervise and administer injury prevention programs
Design and implement pregame warm up protocols for collegiate programs
Maintain proper documentation of written strength and conditioning programs for assigned athletes and teams
Instruct athletes on proper running and weight training movements, including Olympic weightlifting
Motivate all athletes to pursue excellence and educate themselves through activities
Provide service in a safe, respectful and productive environment.
Ensure each athlete has a positive experience
Participate and lead communication with coaches and other healthcare professionals
Communicate effectively and develop positive working relationships with coaches, parents, physical therapists and medical staff
Work in cooperation with assigned sports coaches, athletic trainers and physical therapists, to identify team needs/ goals and areas identified for improvement in team performance and injury prevention
Coordinate strength and conditioning programs with related rehabilitation activities developed by athletic trainers or physical therapists.
Work with sports dietitian on information related to nutrition, body weight or body composition for athletes and adults
Provide guidance in the design of team travel schedules regarding activation, movement prep and recovery guidelines to ensure optimal performance when competing on the road
Data, Continuing Education and Media
Assist in data collection, analysis and strategy implementation
Attend athletic events
Assist in Social Media
Assume an active role in internship program continuing education

Applicant must have Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or similar field, CPR/AED certification, and maintain or be in the pursuit of a certification. (CSCS, USAW, CSCCa or equivalent certification)
