
Sample Designer - Estimator

Job Overview
The Sample Designer/Estimator is responsible for cost estimation, CAD design, process support, prototyping, and quality assurance. This role works closely with sales, production, and QA teams to develop accurate project specifications, improve manufacturing processes, and maintain safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities Quoting / Estimates
Review estimate requests with sales and production teams
Prepare detailed cost estimates including materials and labor
Identify cost-effective manufacturing methods and material usage
Drawings
Create detailed CAD drawings using SolidWorks, TurboCAD, or similar tools
Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs)
Communicate design specifications and assembly procedures to production teams
R&D, Prototyping, and Equipment
Design and develop prototypes for new products
Collaborate with manufacturing and purchasing teams to improve processes and reduce costs
Analyze production capabilities and recommend improvements
Prepare process specifications and assembly instructions
Support CNC programming and manufacturing equipment operations
Safety & Quality
Ensure compliance with safety standards and PPE requirements
Support QA processes and train team members when needed
Monitor and manage quality checks and first-piece approvals
Resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions
Maintain product standards for consistent quality and efficiency
Travel to company locations or client sites in Georgia, Texas, Indiana, Pennsylvania as needed
