Position Summary The Store Consultant consistently delivers a positive customer experience to all customers, using consultative skills to anticipate needs, suggest alternatives, and provide solutions. This customer‑service‑focused team member is knowledgeable in all areas of the Store’s business—including print, signs & graphics, and shipping. Responsibilities include taking orders, coordinating store activities, providing pricing and product information, recommending suitable FedEx Office products and services, operating equipment, moving boxes, stocking materials, managing the production queue and output, overseeing retail supply, and completing assigned tasks based on priority.
General Duties and Responsibilities
Follows instructions of supervisors and assists other team members in performing store functions
Assists in the training of store team members
Demonstrates consultative behaviors to understand each customer’s individualized need
Provides expertise in printing, signs & graphics, and shipping product lines, recommending appropriate FedEx Office products and services
Provides an outstanding customer service experience by anticipating customer needs, suggesting alternatives, and finding solutions
Ensures all customer problems are resolved quickly and to the customer’s satisfaction
Takes complex customer orders using order systems and provides accurate pricing information
Assembles parcels and prepares goods for shipping, including wrapping items in insulation, inserting items into shipping containers, weighing packages, and affixing labels
Sets up and operates printing, binding, and related equipment with customer‑supplied files
Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly retail store
Ensures confidentiality of customer data and careful handling of documents, media, and packages
Processes financial transactions using a POS terminal, handling cash and making change
Cleans, repairs, and stocks all retail store equipment and supplies to ensure optimal performance and availability
Stays current on merchandising materials and ensures proper display of all retail product and signage
Takes pre‑emptive action to prevent errors and waste
Completes required financial paperwork and may assist with financial reporting, including daily sales, close‑outs, and bank deposits
Follows FedEx Office standard operating procedures and all legal, HR, safety, customer‑service, and security policies and procedures
Performs multiple tasks simultaneously
Seeks opportunities to improve knowledge and skills within the retail store
Operates with minimal supervision and adheres to all FedEx Office standards as outlined in the team member handbook
Undertakes all other duties as needed or required
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent education
6+ months of specialized experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Essential Functions
Ability to stand throughout the shift, excluding meal and rest periods
Ability to move and lift 55 pounds
Ability to bend, twist at the waist, and bend at the knees consistently
Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and team members consistently
Ability to perform work activities requiring cooperation and instruction consistently
Ability to function in a fast‑paced environment under substantial pressure consistently
Ability to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods consistently
Ability to work with minimal supervision consistently
Ability to report regularly and maintain established business hours to support the FedEx Office business; regular attendance may include physical location presence or maintaining business hours as the position’s nature requires
Pay Transparency This compensation range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting pay range in NJ. Actual starting pay is determined by experience relative to the job, market level, specific location, and other job‑related factors permitted by law. Regular full‑ and part‑time employees who complete 91 days of employment and work a minimum average of 12 hours per week are eligible to enroll in medical, dental, and/or vision coverage. Educational assistance for tuition requires 90 continuous days of employment to receive reimbursement. Full‑ and part‑time employees are eligible for 401(k) on the first day of the month coincident with or next following one month of service. Company match after 1 year of service.
Pay $19.70 – $26.60 per hour
