
Senior Performance Evaluator

Depending on an individual’s experience, skills, and interests, a Senior Performance Evaluator will be given opportunities to complete more-challenging analyses; help train and support other performance evaluators; and may serve as a team leader to guide the day-to-day work of less-experienced performance evaluators.
Responsibilities What Will You Do?
As a Senior Performance Evaluator:
You will work collaboratively in teams to analyze complex public programs and policy issues.
You will plan and conduct challenging qualitative and quantitative analyses, including by considering data and information not accessible to the public.
You will interview state and local government officials.
You will develop recommendations for improving program efficiency and effectiveness.
You will help draft reports that summarize your analytical results and conclusions.
Qualifications Who Are You?
You are able to maintain strict nonpartisanship.
You have at least three years of professional evaluation experience from government organizations such as:
The Government Accountability Office; or
A state audit office or legislative audit office.
You have a Master’s degree or higher—preferably in a field related to public policy, public administration, law, political science, economics, business administration, urban and regional planning statistics, or psychology—and have strong academic performance.
In addition, as a well-qualified candidate:
You have experience in analyzing public policy issues, measuring program effectiveness, and determining and applying appropriate research strategies.
You are analytical and inquisitive and possess a strong attention to detail.
You communicate effectively orally and in writing.
You are highly motivated, take initiative, and excel in meeting challenges.
You develop positive working relationships with colleagues.
You self-reflect and respond to feedback in a positive and constructive manner.
