Catastrophe Field Claims Specialist – The AAA Auto-Club Group

Join AAA The Auto Club Group during a pivotal time. This full‑time, exempt position covers territories in Detroit, MI; Chicago, IL; or Minneapolis, MN. Eligible candidates must reside within a commutable area of these locations. Job Type & Compensation

Full time – Salary. Competitive annual salary ranging from $67,000 to $80,000. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, paid parental leave, PTO, company‑paid holidays, tuition assistance, employee discounts, and more. What you will do

Handle complex field and inside claims with minimal supervision. Review assigned claims, contact insureds and affected parties, set expectations, and initiate documentation in the claims handling system. Conduct comprehensive coverage analysis, identify policyholder benefits, create sub‑claims, and investigate claim facts to determine payment, limits, exclusions, and recovery potential. Evaluate damages, apply state law and other factors, assess financial value, and approve payments to appropriate parties. Refer claims to other units (underwriting, recovery, investigation) and fully document the claim file. Use strong negotiation skills while managing complex claims. For APD unit staff: settle total losses, inspect vehicles, prepare damage estimates, manage repair shops, monitor repairs, approve rental expenses, oversee litigation, and support training. For Homeowner/CAT unit staff: investigate high‑value claims, prepare estimates in field, monitor contractors, and assist with training. Supervisory Responsibilities

Completion of ACG Claim Representative Training Program or equivalent knowledge/experience. Eligibility to obtain a state adjuster license within 90 days if required; maintain as required. Valid state driver’s license. Required Qualifications – Experience

Three years of experience or equivalent training in negotiation of claim settlements, evidence gathering, manual/electronic estimates, subrogation, coverage questions, statement taking, and claim resolution planning. Required Qualifications – Knowledge and Skills

Advanced knowledge of the Essential Insurance Act (Michigan), Fair Trade Practices Act, subrogation procedures, intercompany arbitration, simple litigation, and building construction/repair techniques. Ability to handle claims to line Claim Handling Standards, follow ACG Claim policies, systems, and procedures. Basic PC skills and claim file review. Effective verbal and written communication; customer service; problem solving; prioritization; time‑sensitive data processing; time management; safe vehicle operation; research and analysis of subrogation laws; travel beyond territory; relocation; evening and weekend availability. Preferred Qualifications – Education

Associate degree in Business Administration, Insurance, or related field. Completion of Insurance Institute of America programs (General Insurance, Associate in Claims, Associate in Management). Completion of CPCU coursework or designation. Xactware training. 1–2 years of full‑cycle homeowners claim experience. Experience with personal property and additional living expense claims. Experience with internal water loss, fire, and smoke claims. Preferred Qualifications – Ability

Walk on roofs, climb ladders, lift up to 25 lbs. Work Environment
