Job Description Student Intervention Team Members and Leaders

The Student Intervention Team (formerly Child Study Team) is an interdisciplinary, collaborative, problem-solving team that works with educators to identify and implement supports, interventions, and accommodations for students who are at risk for not meeting important academic and social‑emotional outcomes. The goal of SIT is to address problems and challenges in a timely manner to help students succeed in the general education classroom. Please note that the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires each school to have a team that identifies students who need additional support in order to succeed in the general education classroom. Each school will have at least one SIT team that meets regularly. The SIT teams will use a strength‑based approach that includes the use of data to support less biased decision‑making.

The SIT team will leverage inquiry cycles to define problems, develop goals, and support the implementation of intervention plans. We are recruiting a diverse group of educators to participate in the SIT Team. The SIT team will include an SIT leader and up to seven (7) additional SIT members. The team will consist of at least one counselor/clinician/psychologist, specialist (e.g., Speech and Language Therapists, BCBA, OT), special education teacher, classroom teacher, and administrator. We also encourage ELE educators, METCO staff, and STS staff to apply. At least one member will be designated to lead clerical activities (e.g., updating paperwork, scheduling meetings, note‑taking). The stipend for SIT leaders is $1000 and SIT members is $800. School leaders will play an active role in recruiting and identifying SIT leaders and members.

Responsibilities for SIT Leaders

Responsibilities for SIT Members

Share your own practice with colleagues, and model the skills and habits of collaborative problem‑solving.

Value and participate in the documentation of the work of SIT, and collecting/analyzing data.
