Senior Interior Designer

Perkins&Will, San Francisco, CA, United States

Overview You lead. We back you up.

This is a design leadership role, not a production seat. You'll drive creative direction on global workplace interiors projects for clients who trust us because we've earned it — and you'll have a 90+-person SF studio behind you to execute at the level you'd be proud of.

Most senior designers face a choice: a large firm with resources and low visibility, or a small firm with ownership and limited scope. This role sits in a third lane — a focused studio inside a 2,800-person global firm. You'll lead marquee projects worldwide, know your MD by name, and build a career with real credit attached to real work.

What You'll Do

Lead design direction, client engagement, and presentations for marquee workplace projects

Own the creative vision from concept through construction — SD, DD, and CDs

Direct, coordinate, and mentor junior designers; build the next generation of talent

Facilitate programming, respond to technical implications of design decisions

Manage design budget, cost control, and schedule for your projects

Coordinate consultants, contractors, and vendors as an integrated design leader

What We're Looking For

10–15+ years of interior design experience, with a strong workplace portfolio

You can run a room — client presentations, design reviews, consultant coordination

Proficiency in Revit; strong 3D visualization and graphic communication skills

Solid command of building codes, specifications, and technical documentation

NCIDQ licensed; LEED AP (or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire)

Professional degree in Interior Design or related field

What You'll Get Salary range: $151,500–$189,300, commensurate with experience, education and skillset.

Medical, dental, and vision insurance

401(k) retirement plan and paid time off

Professional development stipend and dedicated continuing education time

Performance-based bonuses

Access to firmwide affinity groups and leadership development programs

Studio initiatives and events; a team that actually likes each other

Our Commitment Our culture is grounded in a firmwide commitment to Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) — not as a tagline, but as how we hire, promote, and build teams. We conduct annual pay equity audits and train all managers on pay practices. We believe inclusion drives creativity.

How To Apply Submit a resume and a compact, representative portfolio (no larger than 4MB). Show us what you've led, not just what you've touched.
