Sales Development Engineer

Our Company National Instruments (NI) is now the new Test & Measurement (T&M) business unit in Emerson's portfolio.

The Sales Development Engineer (SDE) role is designed for engineers who want to develop careers in technical sales, applications engineering, and technical marketing. You will benefit from extensive training programs, including training on T&M products and related technologies, our sales process, public speaking, instructor skills, and on our customers and markets they serve.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

Spend your first 6 months in rapid learning, gaining expertise with T&M tools and our sales process while supporting T&M customers and their technical challenges

After 6 months, you will partner with an Account Manager to support customer sales requests, provide demos, training, and customer configurations

Balance your time between inbound sales demand, marketing generated leads, customer presentations and demos, and your prospecting activities to generate new demand and pipeline

Develop test and measurement expertise to equip you for your future career

Qualify demand and call out opportunities to Account Managers to drive growth

Provide coaching and mentorship to others within the team

Work collaboratively with many departments, including sales, marketing, technical support, operations, and business units

Travel to customer sites to conduct training courses, lunch and learns, and product presentations

Collaborate with our partner and distribution channel

Create a business plan to drive business success in your territory, identifying the right actions and resources to needed to support business outcomes

For This Role, You Will Need:

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mechanical, or Biomedical Engineering

Strong desire to pursue a long-term career in technical sales, marketing, or applications engineering

Understanding of electronics, computers, and high-level programming languages (C, Python, LabVIEW, etc)

Ability to relocate to Austin, TX for minimum of 2 years

Available for moderate travel

English language competency and effective communication skill

Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

Experience with LabVIEW or test instrumentation

Previous sales or customer facing experience

Leadership of teams, organizations, or projects will provide a step up into the program

Confidence presenting to audiences of unique background and experiences

Spanish language competency and effective communication skill
