News Producer
PIX11 is looking for a full-time news producer to join a fast paced AM newscast.
The ideal candidate will excel at showcasing, editorial vision and tease writing.
Multi-tasking should be second nature, handling a high stress environment while making multiple deadlines.
As the producer you will be responsible for story placement, tease writing, reacting to breaking news and timing out the broadcast.
Responsibilities include:
- Producing newscasts for broadcast across all platforms
- Writing and ordering news stories
- Approving scripts
- Balancing news and feature content to create compelling broadcasts
- Editing video
- Writing stories for the website and other eMedia platforms
- Interacting with viewers and users on social media sites
- Performing other duties as assigned
Requirements & skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
- Fluency in English
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Minimum three years' experience line producing (depending on market size)
- Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Flexibility to work any shift
This is an exempt position. Salary will be $80,000+
