We are seeking a motivated Mortgage Lending Consultant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in mortgage sales and a deep understanding of the mortgage industry. As a Mortgage Lending Consultant, you will be responsible for guiding members through the mortgage application process, from pre‑qualification to closing. You will work closely with borrowers to assess their financial situation, present mortgage options, and help them choose the right loan product to secure their new home.

You Will:
Recognize member and potential member financial and credit needs and educate them on appropriate credit union products and services.
Maintain regular contact with members in order to proactively answer and resolve mortgage questions as well as area attorneys, realtors, insurance agents and others obtaining information.
Interview members and non‑members applying for residential mortgage loans, ensuring all necessary documents are collected and reviewed. Educate members on mortgage options and help them choose the most appropriate loan product.
Analyze members' financial position to determine if it meets minimum loan criteria established by the secondary market guidelines or by the credit union.
Provide home‑buying education, credit counseling, and mortgage makeovers to put members in a better financial position.
Communicate figures and loan terms effectively at closings with buyers, sellers, real estate agents, and third‑party service providers such as attorneys and title companies.
Utilize technology both to improve member experience and maximize efficiencies.
Answer general mortgage loan questions (costs, payments, rates, programs, etc.) as applicable.
Maintain thorough knowledge of the requirements and features of the credit union loan programs to provide related information to applicants.
Maintain general knowledge on state and local government funded programs that utilize grants and interest‑free loans to assist borrowers.
Serve as primary contact for mortgage loan questions through the mortgage loan process.
Create connections and maintain positive professional relationships with real estate agents, attorneys, and builders through networking and community involvement.
Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations governing residential mortgage lending.
Perform other duties as assigned.
You’ll Need:
Associate’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
Proven experience as a Mortgage Lender or similar role in the mortgage industry.
Bilingual abilities in Spanish and English are a plus.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong sales ability with a commitment to member service.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Current NMLS (National Mortgage Licensing System) registration or ability to obtain it.
