
Cybersecurity Intern

The Cybersecurity Intern will shadow and perform tasks under the supervision of the Sr. Manager, Cybersecurity and primarily work closely with the Cyber Engineering team to gain hands‑on experience in a global enterprise cybersecurity operations environment. The ideal candidate will work closely with Security Engineer II and III team members to monitor security systems, respond to incidents, and help implement security controls and system. This internship provides comprehensive exposure to real-world cybersecurity challenges while developing essential technical and analytical skills.
As part of the Cybersecurity team, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with our Cybersecurity GRC, Cloud Operations, System Administration, Endpoint Engineering, Network Operations, AI and Engineering, and Regional IT Infrastructure teams to observe how they interact with cybersecurity tools and the cybersecurity team
Essential Job Functions
Support security team projects such as monitoring our security information and event management (SIEM) systems for potential threats and monitoring our endpoint detection and response systems for malicious activity
Assist in investigating and documenting security incidents
Participate in vulnerability scanning and reviewing results
Analyze malware and suspicious activity
Participate in cybersecurity design reviews, testing of new systems, and deployment of approved security systems
Develop security playbooks and runbooks to automate security mitigation tasks
Engage with our third‑party MSSP to assist in tuning our SIEM for advanced security log coverage
Participate in the execution of risk and threat analyst activities, demonstrating findings from external and internal cyber trends and incidents
Participate in the monitoring and evaluation of email threats utilizing our email security tools
Assist with security awareness training programs and analyzing results
Participate in team meetings (daily stand‑ups, weekly status, project) to collaborate on project status, technology and cybersecurity risks, and cybersecurity program improvements
Participate with the cybersecurity team in working with third‑party firms to perform periodic penetration testing of networks, web‑apps, wireless environments
Assist the cybersecurity team in formulating mock cybersecurity exercises
Collaborate with the Cybersecurity GRC team to understand how they implement security awareness training across the employee base, what tools and processes they use to evaluate vendors, and what risks and controls they monitor in their roles
Collaborate with other IT Infrastructure and AI/Engineering teams to understand how they interact with the cybersecurity, what tools they use to protect data, and what solutions they use in their daily activities

Other Skills & Abilities
Basic cybersecurity knowledge – cybersecurity triad, EDR, incident response, SIEM, and data protection
Some fundamental understanding of cloud computing and networking
Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Java, or other languages
Basic understanding of control standards such as ISO 27001/27002 or the NIST Cybersecurity Framework
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and excellent time management abilities
Strong customer orientation and excellent interpersonal and communication skills are a must
Physical Requirements
Talking, hearing and using hands to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and other computer components
Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
Job will require punctual attendance and regular presence on‑site at the assigned work location
Education & Experience
Entering Junior or Senior year of a qualified undergraduate degree: B.S. Cybersecurity, B.S. Information System, B.S. Information Technology
Current GPA of 3.0 or higher
Experience as an intern in a SOC environment or other company intern program
Certifications & Licenses
Professional certification may be required in some areas.
Industry certification highly preferred in one of the following areas: (e.g., ISC2 CC or Security+
