Summer Digital News Intern (part-time) WTVR

Are you passionate about digital journalism? Are you a student or early career professional looking to help build the newsrooms of the future? This is an internship opportunity with the digital audience and data team at WTvrNewsDigital. We are looking for a junior influencer to help give our audience a more personal, engaging, and immersive experience that feels relevant to them, with an emphasis on telling stories from a very local perspective to connect deeply with the people who want it most.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Gain experience at an in-house newsroom, learn to write and produce stories that bring public service journalism to life.

Build a portfolio of editorial work, including news beats, deep dives, thoughtful explorations and local coverage.

Develop a strong understanding of storytelling, tone, context, values and brand story.

Learn and use technical tools like acquisition and editing to publish a final product across multiple platforms.

Develop a greater command of skills like micro‑attention content, data storytelling and rapid assignment coverage.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

High school diploma or equivalent; enrolled in a college program.

Interns must be juniors or seniors in college at the time of their internship.

Internships are part‑time, and must be sustained for no more than six months in a calendar year, excluding summer internship periods.

Internship timeframe is typically from July through September.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Strong interest in digital journalism and ownership of the news cycle.

Storytelling and social media skills alongside an aptitude for data knowledge.

Inbound journalism experience, editing responsibilities and advanced programed work output.

Familiarity with video, audio, and graphic creation are a plus.
