Job Duties The primary purpose of this position is to provide evaluation and intervention services to infants and toddlers referred to the Children’s Developmental Services Agency (CDSA). The Specialist works within the ECU Brody School of Medicine’s Department of Pediatrics and serves as the primary portal of entry for the North Carolina Infant Toddler Program (ITP) for seven counties in the eastern region of the state.
Responsibilities include:
Provide training and competency‑based educational opportunities to Service Coordinators, Specialists, community service providers, stakeholders, and families/caregivers to enhance outcomes for children birth‑to‑three and their families (10%).
Deliver direct and consultative therapeutic interventions and treatment services to enrolled children and families within their area of expertise and licensure (30%).
Maintain client records in accordance with CDSA/ITP standards and complete required billing documentation and accountability activities (5%).
Coordinate services for selected children and families, serve on local, regional or state level committees as approved, and attend meetings and trainings as required (5%).
Conduct developmental assessments, develop and monitor Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP), provide feedback to teams, and facilitate progress reviews (50%).
Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the therapeutic specialty area assigned. Additional training, certifications, or licensure in speech pathology, audiology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, or other fields may be required.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Experience with the Birth to Three population, family‑directed service provision, home and community‑based programming, developmental assessments, and therapeutic interventions with young children with disabilities and their families.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
