Position Summary The Director of the Laboratory oversees the long term and day-to-day operations of the Laboratory. This includes ensuring that diagnostic testing is performed by qualified and appropriately trained staff, the development and adherence to the operational and capital budgets, the development of job descriptions and overseeing the Proficiency Testing, Quality Control and Quality Improvement Programs.
Essential Functions
Schedule to allow complete coverage of all areas in the department. Assure equipment is maintained and kept functioning at all times
Maintain communication between providers, patients and all other department within the organization
Assure all quality and compliance standards are met
Directs hiring, orientation, training, supervision, evaluation and licensure of Laboratory staff
Tracks and adheres to financial plan
Reviews alignment of department goals and objectives
Skills & Abilities
Bachelor's Degree required; Must be a graduate of a Medical Laboratory Sciences or an allied field
5 years' experience working as a Medical Laboratory Scientist
Certifications-MT (ASCP) or NCA certification
