Our Commercial Lines State Management team is currently seeking a Commercial Lines Associate State Manager to join their team. This is a full‑time, exempt role. This role is eligible for a fully remote arrangement.
Overview/Summary This position assists in the development, implementation, and management of pricing and distribution plans for assigned states which have significant strategic and financial importance to the enterprise. Working directly with the both the State Manager and distribution arm of the organization, the Associate State Manager collaborates in the development, execution and monitoring of operating plans resulting in CL objectives, including the areas of combined ratio, revenue growth, regulatory management, and legal compliance.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions
Assist in the development, implementation, and management operating plans for assigned states, including pricing and volume plans designed to meet or exceed Personal Lines objectives.
Work closely with Marketing, Operations, Claims, Actuarial, Underwriting, ATS, and Legal to develop and implement state-specific strategies to meet or exceed margin and volume and to respond to market changes.
Assist in monitoring the performance and communication of product information, pricing issues, underwriting philosophies, strategies, and financial results to team members.
Coordinates, facilitates and leads communication across functions and the state management team.
Develop an in-depth knowledge of state markets and key competitors by product line.
Assists in facilitating the integration of competitive intelligence to support business strategies
Develop a broad base of industry knowledge and current economic and business trends.
Communicates effectively with all levels and audiences. Able to adjust communication approach as needed based on the audiencer
Leverage networks and relationships within and outside of functional area to complete work.
Acts as a change agent and effectively focuses the resources during times of transition and change.
May mentor other state analysts.
Required Skills, Key Competencies and Experience
MBA required plus 2 to 5 years insurance experience managing
Absent direct Core Commercial insurance experience, MBA plus 5 to 8 years broad based experience in financial services
