Description Your Role The Associate, Creative Design is an individual contributor participating in the creative concepting and design of the team’s runway, VIP, and custom initiatives. This role is responsible for assisting with researching and compiling design references, creating design pitch decks, and maintaining clear visual direction across all active projects of the Creative Atelier Team. The Specialist– Art Direction contributes to concept research, sketching designs, sourcing relevant materials, and some in‑house making of specialized pieces. The Specialist– Art Direction reports to and collaborates closely with the Sr Manager Art Direction, offering a sharp creative eye, and a proactive approach to supporting complex, fast‑moving workstreams. Operates with moderate independence while taking direction under active supervision, exercising thoughtful judgment within a defined scope.

Your Impact

Compile references, sketch designs, and gather relevant materials to inform early creative direction.

Create and maintain design decks, project boards, and visual presentations that clearly communicate intent across all custom projects.

Swatching and local fabric/trim sourcing for custom developments.

Participate in in‑house sample making, mockups, or prototyping as needed to support early‑stage design validation.

Adapt designs and documentation based on feedback from the Atelier Team and cross‑functional partners.

Contribute to research on materials, techniques, and references, bringing forward new ideas and inspiration.

Apply a strong visual point of view to mood boards, concept tears, and design decks to support overall creative direction.

Prepare comprehensive tech packs—including sketches, measurements, swatches, and reference images for external vendor builds.

Demonstrate strong attention to detail, anticipating potential issues and maintaining clarity within fast‑paced workflows.

Continue developing skills and competencies through hands‑on learning, feedback integration, and collaboration.

Build effective relationships with internal partners and contractors, supporting smooth handoffs and clear communication.

Minimum Salary:

$68,200.00

Maximum Salary:

$89,460.00

VS&Co provides a range of compensation for this role as shown. Your actual salary will be determined by a number of factors, including: your specific skills and experience, geographic region, or other relevant factors.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in fashion design

1‑3 years professional design experience, preferably in a high‑end fashion environment

Microsoft Office, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Keynote proficiency required, familiarity with digital sketching applications and shared digital systems preferred

Ability to effectively communicate design intent through hand sketching and/or digital sketching required

Working knowledge of fabric and garment construction required, experience with lingerie a plus

Mastery of basic patternmaking, draping, and sewing required

Exceptional talent with an eye for trends, style, and details

Solid understanding and ability to communicate construction instructions

Detail‑oriented and organized with consistent follow‑through

Solid communication and presentation skills

Collaborative partner with a team‑oriented approach

Demonstrates strong creative drive with a commitment to delivering high‑quality work

Flexible and adaptable to change, strong ability to react with speed and agility

Enthusiastic, positive energy & able to work well under pressure

Ability to work in our New York City office required
