The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship develops experiential learning opportunities to complement and expand traditional academic offerings, drives the growth of regional and global entrepreneurship ecosystems and to empowers our students, alumni, and community members as they create new ventures. Responsibilities:

Strategic and center Leadership

Develop short and long-term strategic plans with consultation and participation of the Dean, Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Global Engagement, the Chair of the Advisory Council and the Director of Operations and Engagement;
Seek and promote programmatic activities, faculty collaborations (research and teaching), and student learning experiences across various units of the Costello College of Business and the University;
Build the academic reputation of the center through academic research or white papers in coordination with the center's Director of Research;
Actively promote entrepreneurship across campus and to current and prospective students and families;
Develop/teach courses in entrepreneurship or related topics as needed;
Collaborate with other entrepreneurship related units at George Mason;
Collaborate with the Management area and Director, Minors Program to promote the Entrepreneurship minor and courses;
Provide strategic oversight for CIE at Mason Korea;

Supervision

Ensure that center is appropriately supported with needed resources and staff. Ensure that the center has sufficient funding to meet daily operational expenses;
Oversee center schedule of activities and preparation of periodic reports;
Develop substantive programs or initiatives that add value to the region;
Ensure center's activities, including the SOAR Initiative cohorts and Patriot Pitch Competition, are well-planned, marketed, and executed, delivering value to program participants, students, the center, College, and University;

Oversee that Risk Management procedures are maintained and followed for Honey Bee Initiative operations;

Outreach, Advancement & Extramural Funding

Develop, implement, and execute a strategic fundraising campaign to include event sponsorship, outreach, fundraising goals, etc., working with the Dean's Office, CIE Advisory Council and the Costello College of Business Advancement and Alumni Relations team and Costello College of Business Marketing and Communications team to ensure long term self-sustainability of the center;
Responsible within the Center for developing leads for fundraising;
Manage CIE Advisory Council:\n
- Maintain relationships with Advisory Council members;
- Manage agenda content for these meetings;
- Develop leads for recruitment of new Council members;

Identify potential private and institutional donors including relevant grant writing opportunities;
Provide leadership for grant opportunities and donor pitches;

Serve as the primary point of contact for CIE to the entrepreneurship industry;
Attend key industry events;

Serve as the center's point of contact for internal and external media opportunities.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience;
At least 10 years of leadership experience in any of the following areas of entrepreneurship: entrepreneurship, executive-level corporate innovation, spanning venture creation and exit, innovation leadership in complex organizations, ecosystem development, entrepreneurship education, and thought leadership;
Demonstrated track record of building positive relationships with industry professionals and the business community;
Experience overseeing complex budgets and financial viability;
Knowledge of budget development, financial management, and resource allocation;
Awareness of fundraising and advancement strategies, including grant writing, donor stewardship, or raising seed funding for a business or creating new revenue streams for a corporation;

About the Position:

The Senior Director of Development is the lead fundraising officer for the school and a member of the school's leadership team. The position's primary responsibilities include working closely with the Dean, Area Chairs, volunteer/advisory boards, faculty, and senior staff members to develop fundraising priorities and strategies. The position also partners with Central Advancement, advancement colleagues, and school colleagues to advance philanthropic giving to key priorities through ongoing annual fundraising, alumni engagement, corporate and foundation relations, and major, principle, and planned giving.

Under a dual reporting relationship to the Dean and the Associate Vice President of Development, the Senior Director of Development manages development activity for the school by undertaking the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects with metrics established by Central Advancement.

The Senior Director oversees the school's capital campaign activities and ensures alignment of the school's capital campaign with any future comprehensive campaign on the part of the university. This is a position that is heavily focused on networking and building relationships and committed to the tracking of measures and metrics to build a pipeline of donors to support the aspirations of the Dean, faculty, and students of the school and the university as a whole.

This position is expected to travel independently and to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities:

Maintains Personal Portfolio and Supports Comprehensive Fundraising Program

Carries and maintains a portfolio of 50 - 60 prospects that are being moved through the donor engagement process culminating in MAJOR or PRINCIPAL gifts (as defined by George Mason's Advancement team);
Actively engages each prospect in their portfolio to ensure prospect movement and portfolio penetration annually;
Minimum of 50% portfolio penetration working toward 75% portfolio penetration;
Submits 2-4 \"asks\" per month for a total of a minimum of 24 per year;
Meets or exceeds all metrics and expectations set by Central Advancement;
Displays good judgment and confidentiality;
Supports successful execution of a comprehensive fundraising program that appropriately partners with and leverages resources from the Central Advancement team to accomplish objectives;
Develops strategies and implementation of major and principal gifts for the school, in concert with Central Advancement and Alumni Relations;
As appropriate, is personally responsible for the direct solicitation of gifts and for preparing the Dean, members of the school advisory boards, members of the school's Advancement team, faculty, staff, and other members of the school and/or university to make solicitations;
Coordinates the efforts of those who can assist in fundraising; tracks contacts, asks, and funds raised; drafts proposals and pledge agreements for potential donors; and proposes and coordinates appropriate cultivation and stewardship activities;
Travels as necessary for donor outreach and cultivation;
Works with offices across campus to coordinate related activities that further the university's mission and achieve fundraising goals;
Finds new and creative ways to engage donors that will enrich the donor experience and add value to the academic life of the university;
Works with staff to engage all alumni to advance the percentage of active involvement and increase alumni donations;
Engages a wide range of colleagues, alumni, donors, prior faculty and staff, and individuals who might be able to help in pursuing/winning major gifts;
Seeks the assistance of a wide range of people in identifying prospects who might make major gifts in the future;
Assists in overseeing the school's portfolio of donors and potential donors, both individually and through management of the team to maximize unit revenue from philanthropic giving;
Communicates and executes the Advancement and Alumni Relations agenda with the school's volunteer boards and alumni affinity groups;
Assists with planning and implementation of school efforts to raise individual, corporate, and foundation funds;
Conducts discovery visits with prospective donors as identified by Central Advancement Research and will also hand-off or disqualify individuals from their portfolio based on an unwillingness to connect, lack of affinity, or philanthropic interest in another aspect of Mason;
Works with staff to engage all alumni to advance the percentage of active involvement and increase alumni donations; and meets or exceeds fundraising goals;
Regularly updates supervisors as to any fundraising and relationship-building activities taking place in the school;
Seeks the assistance of a wide range of people in identifying prospects who might make major gifts in the future;
Strategizes about which major gifts would have the greatest value to and impact on the school and prioritizes said gifts. Works with donors to try to interest them in gifts that have the greatest value to and impact on the school. Understands that certain gifts will transform the school more than others, and takes responsibility for pursuing and capturing more valuable gifts; and
Although this position does not have responsibility for cultivating and getting gifts of under $5,000, the position helps, proactively and in any way possible, team members in the school who are responsible for securing these annual and leadership annual gifts.

Responsibilities\nDepartment Leadership and Administration

Provide leadership, supervision, and training for Transportation staff.

Conduct performance evaluations and oversee performance management processes.

Track, review, and approve employee work hours.

Collaborate with stakeholders across both institutions to support transportation goals and service needs.

Manage the transportation department budget, including operating and repair expenses, and oversee internal billing and invoicing for vehicle repair and maintenance services.

Fleet and Mechanical Management

Supervise mechanic duties and establish maintenance schedules and repair priorities.

Assess vehicle repair needs and determine whether work is completed in-house or by external vendors.

Ensure all campus vehicles meet safety standards and are maintained in roadworthy condition.

Maintain accurate vehicle maintenance and safety records.

Busing and Transportation Operations

Develop and manage bus routes, schedules, and driver assignments to align with passenger demand.

Coordinate and manage reservations and dispatching for CSB and SJU sponsored off-campus and charter trips, including the use of college owned buses and external transportation providers as needed.

Communicate and post service cancellations related to transportation disruptions.

Serve as a relief bus driver when operational needs require.

Collaborate with the directors of Security and Life Safety to assess weather and road conditions and determine when bus services should be modified or suspended.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications\nMinimum qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent, plus a minimum of five years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Three or more years of experience in vehicle maintenance.

One or more years of employee supervision experience; supervision of union-represented employees preferred.

Valid Class B CDL with passenger endorsement and no air brake restriction.

Working knowledge of state and federal transportation rules and regulations.

Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with members of the college community.

Proficiency with or willingness to learn computer-based systems related to scheduling, recordkeeping, and compliance.

Management and organizational skills necessary to supervise a transportation department, including oversight of required state and federal motor carrier records.

Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment with minimal supervision.

Ability to perform job functions safely, including completion of required training and proper use of personal protective equipment.

Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Ability to successfully pass a driving history check.

Physical Requirements

Must successfully complete a DOT physical.

This position is subject to DOT random drug and alcohol testing throughout employment.

Ability to safely operate a variety of equipment and instruct others in their proper use.

Ability to tolerate and work in varying temperatures and weather conditions.

Ability to lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds.

Ability to work safely with and/or around hazardous chemicals.

Travel Requirements

Regular travel between the campuses of the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University.
