The Muskogee Phoenix, a CNHI newspaper in Northeast Oklahoma, is looking for an energetic, well-organized self-starter to fill an upcoming opening for a Reporter.

The Phoenix publishes three times a week and has a robust website, with a small staff of seasoned newspaper employees, so we’re looking for a real team player. Muskogee is the 13th-largest city in Oklahoma and is a regional hub for industry and business, with a robust river port and other facilities.

The reporter will be responsible for covering various beats in Muskogee County, as well as writing features and enterprise pieces, producing at least 10 stories a week, along with accompanying photos and some social media work.

The preferred candidate will have a degree in journalism or a related field, or  experience in a newsroom, and be able to make decisions on content and coverage in conjunction with other writers and the regional editor.

There’s opportunity for advancement in the company, so leadership skills and an ability to aggressively pursue important  stories are important.

We prefer some experience with BLOX or other newsroom applications, and experience in InDesign would be an advantage.

CNHI offers good benefits, including health insurance, vacations, reimbursement for mileage and other expenses. Pay is negotiable and dependent upon experience and qualifications.
