The most qualified candidate's location will determine where the position is filled.
What You Will Be Doing The Deputy Director provides executive leadership for key Division of Behavioral Health functions, including the division's interface with the Medicaid program, provider enrollment, licensing, clinical oversight, and quality assurance activities.
You will work with a dynamic team of professionals committed to ensuring the effective management of the division's resources and support the implementation and oversight of mental health and substance misuse treatment programs and services within the State of Alaska.
You will be responsible for representing the division in collaboration with Department of Health leadership, including Division directors, Deputy Commissioners, the Commissioner, and presenting key projects and information to the Legislature.

The Working Environment You Can Expect Anchorage Regional Office: Conveniently located in Midtown Anchorage at The Frontier Building, our office is within walking distance of local amenities. Juneau Central Office: Centered in vibrant downtown near the Alaska State Capitol Building. A hybrid work environment offers the option of designated teleworking and in‑office days. We offer a flexible work schedule that requires just two days of in‑person work a week.

Minimum Qualifications Three years of professional experience in the broad occupational fields of the division or department and two years of supervisory and/or managerial experience, which may be concurrent with the professional experience.
Special Note “Professional experience in the broad occupational fields of the division or department” means experience in one of the professional areas that compose the division's purpose and function to ensure the applicant has the knowledge of the work of the division to be managed. For example, in an administrative services division, qualifying experience could be in any one of the professional areas that compose business administration such as accounting, procurement, human resources, and so on.
