Volunteer: Building a Fundraising & Sponsorship Strategy for the Elev8 Villages

Overview
This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections. We are seeking a skilled volunteer to help us design a focused and integrated business development strategy to support the Elev8 Villages National Tour. A national tour aimed at building awareness, partnerships, and funding for future tiny home villages serving youth aging out of foster care. This project will focus on creating a clear, actionable roadmap that aligns fundraising, sponsorships, and partnerships in a way that supports both immediate tour needs and long‑term sustainability. Specifically, we are hoping the volunteer can help us:
Key Responsibilities
Develop a 90‑day business development and fundraising roadmap
Identify and prioritize potential sponsorship and partnership opportunities
Analyze our current sponsorship framework and recommend needed changes
Outline a donor journey from initial engagement to long‑term support
Provide guidance on where to focus limited resources for the greatest impact
The goal is not to create overly complex systems, but rather a clear, strategic plan that can be implemented during this next phase of growth.
Mission Context Elev8 Villages exists to create supportive, community‑based housing for youth aging out of foster care. These young people are at significant risk of homelessness, trafficking, addiction, and incarceration simply due to a lack of stable support systems. The National Tour is a key catalyst for this mission. It is designed to spark real human connection across the country, through conversations, events, and storytelling, while building the relationships and resources needed to launch the first Elev8 Village. This project will directly impact our ability to secure the funding and partnerships required to move from vision to reality. A clear and strategic business development plan will allow us to:
Engage aligned sponsors and partners who believe in this mission
Build sustainable funding pathways beyond one‑time donations
Maximize the impact of every interaction during the tour
Ultimately, this work supports creating real, tangible communities where young people are invited into safe housing and are also supported, valued, and given a foundation to thrive. Volunteers on this project will play a direct role in helping bring that vision to life.

Provide all relevant materials , including our business plan, tour concept, and current outreach ideas
Come prepared to each meeting with clear questions and updates
Be responsive, organized, and respectful of time commitments
Quickly implement agreed‑upon strategies and provide feedback on what is working
This project is a priority, and we are ready to begin immediately with a collaborative and action‑oriented approach.
