Job Description The Property Tax Division of the Utah State Tax Commission is currently looking for a skilled and motivated individual to fill the Research Consultant position. This is a professional-level position working under the direction of the Manager.

Principal Duties

Research and compile data, taxing entity creation, boundaries, and taxing authority.

Review information submitted by the counties and taxing entities to ensure correctness and compliance with Utah statute.

Ensure correct certified tax rate calculation.

Assist counties and taxing entities to correct their data when errors are found.

Assist county personnel with matters related to the Property tax calendar, specifically certified tax rates and auditor and treasurer responsibilities.

Develop and conduct training for county personnel and taxing entities.

Review and verify data.

Create reports and provide information on property tax data, values, rates.

Create and maintain accurate digital maps and spatial databases. This includes collecting and creating geographic data, performing quality checks to ensure accuracy.

Qualifications

Has experience in reviewing and analyzing data.

Has knowledge of the Utah Property Tax system.

Ability to create reports and communicate information in both written and verbal format.

Has experience working with elected officials.

Has experience in developing and conducting training.

Has excellent communication skills.

Has experience with local government issues.
