Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced professional to join our team as a Mortgage Loan

HELOC Underwriter . The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. This hybrid role will monitor compliance with all applicable federal, state and bank regulations. The HELOC Underwriter has the responsibility of establishing and maintaining relationships with processors and lenders. Ensuring that credit packages are being reviewed and assessed in accordance with Central Bank specific programs and guidelines. Approves residential loans and exceptions to policy within scope of authority in accordance with company policy. Administers and completes functions related to the acceptance or rejections of mortgage loan applications. Evaluates risk and sets terms for approval based on program specific guidelines. Must have the ability to prioritize, be highly organized and have solid problem solving and decision making skills. Ensures Corporate Credit Policy and all Federal and State Lending Regulations are upheld.

Key Responsibilities

Accurately evaluates and analyzes the credit risk factors in the determination of compliance with guidelines and renders final loan decisions on HELOC loans. Sets forth in writing in an approved organizational format the terms for loan approval and modification or identifies reason for denial.

Responsible for reviewing appraisal or bank requirements for establishing value for marketability of the property.

Completes all tracking screens and forms as required for reporting or other purposes.

Conducts final review of underwriting conditions to ascertain that the file will now meet program guidelines.

Assists loan originators and processors as able with requests for assistance in structuring loans to meet requirements. Assists operations staff as able with questions regarding underwriting guidelines and any other underwriting related issues.

Able to effectively communicate and discuss underwriting decision. Willingness to listen and evaluate challenges to underwriting conditions or decisions.

Identifies problems and develops procedures to resolve or correct the situation; monitors and measures the results.

Location This position can work hybrid or remote from any of our affiliate bank locations throughout the Holding Company in North Carolina, Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Florida, or Illinois.

Qualifications

Education: College degree preferred. High School Diploma and commitment to continuing job related course work

Experience: Minimum 3-5 years underwriting experience, knowledge of lending requirements, and experience and proficiency in analyzing risk.

Skills:

Proficient in Word, Windows, use of the Internet, and Encompass processing systems.

Proficient in analyzing risk.

Attention to detail and accuracy.

Must have excellent written communication and strong verbal skill.

Projects a professional image and collaborates with others to accomplish goals and demanding deadlines.
