Job Overview The Planet Groups' Retail client is looking for a Visual Merchandising Designer. This role will create innovative visual concepts and retail design solutions that bring the brand to life across all channels. Focused on new in-store concepts, this role champions creativity, scalability, and efficiency while collaborating across teams to evolve the brand.
Responsibilities
Supports the development and execution of innovative design solutions based on Global Brand Strategy and design intent of our ED of VMSD, entering numerous phases of projects to meet deadlines: concepting, design stages, obtaining approvals, and seeing all projects to completion under the Design Director.
Participates in the development of design concepts across FSS, SMC, and DS 360 channels.
Supports presentation materials of design concepts.
Executes development of merchandising and technical guidelines as reference for regional design teams.
Demonstrates an understanding of materials, cost, and time requirements on projects.
Reviews fixture/unit shop drawings and vendor flow to ensure design details are accurate and meet the Global Brand standards.
Participates in seasonal store visits in the home region to maintain knowledge of new, trending store experiences.
Actively researches current trends in global culture, retail design, fashion, art, etc., and brings inspirational contributions and design ideas to weekly brainstorm sessions.
Open to flexing to support areas of the team as needed, VM 360, events, etc.
Qualifications
3+ years of experience, in industrial design, visual merchandising, store planning/design, event design, or related experience
Strong ability to conceptualize spatial designs and take design direction
Familiar with FSS, DS, Open Sell, and SMC environment design and execution
Must thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and work both independently and closely under management of Design Director
Demonstrate an understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, cost and time requirements on projects
Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to stay aligned with greater team/Operations
Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, 3D modeling/rendering program of choice
Able to work well in a team environment and receive input from others, discuss/defend design solutions and remain flexible in finding solutions
