Mid-Level Packaging Specialist (Hybrid) Job at Cella in Framingham

Compensation Range: $30 - 35 per hour Location: Framingham, Massachusetts Job Type: Contract We are seeking a Senior Packaging Designer to serve as a creative catalyst within our cross‑functional team, delivering trend‑forward packaging solutions that allow our global brands to evolve. In this role, you’re not just designing boxes; you are the primary creative force responsible for the visual identity and structural integrity of our products across select categories. You will bridge the gap between high‑level aesthetic trends and tangible, shelf‑ready results. As a leader in the design process, you will partner closely with Product Development and Buying teams to identify opportunities for brand growth through innovative packaging. You will also manage the technical and operational side of the house—overseeing supplier relationships to ensure quality standards are hit and deadlines are met. Whether directing internal team members or managing a network of freelancers and contractors, your goal is to ensure every branding solution is "trend‑right" and flawlessly executed. Responsibilities Oversees the creation of trend‑forward brand packaging across various home categories. Partners with product development and merchandising to fill lifestyle needs by product category. Influences the organization on design decisions. Partners with the Sr. Product Development Managers, Trend Teams and Divisional Manager to create compelling brand packaging. Ensures the quality of the vendor's packaging through an established approval process and ensures all deadlines are met. Creates and directs brand packaging for a wide variety of products (boxes, hangtags, labels, etc.). Prioritizes and directs designers, freelancers, interns and/or contractors in design and content creation. Follow‑through from conception to shelf—providing approvals and overseeing successful execution of all components before press and delivery. Communicates with product development and regulatory teams throughout the design process, including reviewing and proofing packaging. Maintains a strict adherence to T&A and deadlines. Establishes parameters of acceptable tolerances in print/color/construction while developing and implementing methods to improve efficiencies. Manages the photography and photography requirements for packages. Directs styling, ensures photo quality, content, and that timeline requirements are met. Partners with legal and trademark administrator in researching new brand names, and ensures all legal/trademark requirements are met. Performs special projects as assigned. Qualifications BFA or related degree in design preferred. A minimum of 5-8 years design related experience. Proven results managing multi‑disciplinary design teams or designers. Demonstrated experience guiding business stakeholders through the design process, delivering vision and adhering to brand integrity. Ability to think across multiple platforms including product, merchandising and new forms of brand communication. Management experience to influence, drive change and drive vision is required. In‑depth knowledge of design and cultural trends to develop cohesive design solutions. Excellent sense of color, type and style. Strong leadership, organizational, communication and presentation skills. Ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects and works well under pressure. Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign) as well as supporting office programs.
