About The Role We are seeking a Fractional Business Development & Grant Writer to help drive our next phase of growth. This role is ideal for someone who is both a strong writer and a strategic thinker—someone who can secure funding while also building relationships that expand our impact. We are open to engaging this role as either a part‑time employee or an independent contractor, depending on experience and preference. You will play a key role in identifying funding opportunities, writing compelling proposals, and developing partnerships with employers, funders, and community organizations. What You’ll Do Grant Writing & Fund Development Research and identify new grant opportunities (public, private, and corporate) Write and submit grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports Assist with managing grant timelines, deliverables, and compliance requirements Partner with internal teams to gather program data, outcomes, and impact stories. Contribute to fundraising and revenue diversification strategies Track trends in workforce development and healthcare training funding Recommend new opportunities aligned with organizational growth goals Other business development related tasks as needed. Required Experience Demonstrated success in grant writing and securing funding Experience in nonprofit fundraising, business development, or partnerships Strong writing, communication, and storytelling skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Familiarity with California funding landscapes and/or workforce development preferred. Preferred Experience Experience in healthcare, education, or workforce development programs Knowledge of Bay Area funders, healthcare systems, or workforce boards Experience working with organizations serving historically underserved communities. Details Flexible, fractional schedule (hours based on organizational needs) Hybrid or remote, with occasional in‑person meetings in the Bay Area preferred Compensation: Hourly or project‑based, commensurate with experience.
