PGS Worldwide is seeking an Engineering Writer in Elkridge, MD for a one year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This role supports electronic systems, sensors, and radar systems by developing technical publications for operation and maintenance audiences. You will research and compile information from contractual and engineering sources and publish materials that comply with military specifications and standards.
Required Skills
Bachelors degree in a STEM discipline or related field, OR minimum of 7 years experience in military operations and maintenance with radar, communications, electro-optics, networks, and information technology-based sensors/systems
U.S. citizenship
Active DoD Secret clearance (must possess and maintain)
Strong technical writing/editing skills for operation and maintenance publications
Ability to research and compile information from contractual and engineering sources
Experience writing to military specifications and standards
Ability to publish in page-based, electronic (basic and interactive), and structured formats (HTML, XML, SGML)
Excellent oral/written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Self-motivated, proactive, and detail oriented
Able and willing to perform physically demanding tasks in various environmental conditions
Able and willing to travel to domestic and international sites when/if required
Preferred Skills
More than 10 years of engineering writing experience
Willingness to obtain a higher-level clearance, if required
Multi-disciplined background, including experienced/certified military instructor
What Youll Do
Work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) to develop and deliver sensor/system technical publications
Write, rewrite, and edit publications covering hardware description, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting/repair, and parts information
Collaborate with task leads, writers, engineers, and instructors to gather inputs and produce deliverables at varying levels of detail
Conduct quality reviews of technical publications
Perform other duties as assigned
