Position Overview
We are seeking an entry‑level Housing Specialist to join our Permanent Supported Housing Team. The position is 32 hours per week, exempt, and reports to the PSH Assistant Program Manager.
Responsibilities
Provide housing‑related support to participants with severe mental illness or addiction issues who have experienced houselessness.
Document contacts as required or appropriate.
Communicate with landlords and property managers.
Work collaboratively with other resources to help participants enter into and maintain housing.
Exercise patience, empathy, and professional judgment in all interactions.
Qualifications
A degree in social work or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Preferred experience working with people who have been homeless and/or have mental health needs.
Effective communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills.
Strong scheduling, time‑management, and organizational abilities.
Leadership, risk management, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
Proficient use of technology for email, spreadsheets, documents, etc.
Ability to handle confidential material.
Successful completion of a DHS background check.
Valid driver’s license and ability to drive agency vehicles.
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly wage $20.30 – $20.70, adjusted every six months after passing a probationary period.
Annual one‑time $600 salary increase after a six‑month probationary period.
12 paid holidays per year.
