Overview
As our Director of Surgical Services, you will be a central figure providing strategic leadership and comprehensive operational oversight for all aspects of our operating rooms, post‑anesthesia care units (PACU), and related surgical areas, ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient, and high‑quality surgical care. You will play a vital role in optimizing patient outcomes and enhancing the overall surgical experience.
Every day, you will expertly manage multidisciplinary teams of surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and support staff, collaboratively developing and implementing strategic plans to optimize patient flow, surgical efficiency, quality metrics, and financial performance. You will also oversee regulatory compliance, advanced technology adoption, resource allocation, and the cultivation of strong staff development and engagement, continuously driving innovation and achieving aggressive goals while maintaining the highest standards of evidence‑based surgical practice and patient safety.

Responsibilities
Assist Chief Operating Officer, CNO by providing financial analysis of the impact of proposed actions, changes, staffing levels, etc. related to Surgical Services.
Coordinate and supervise Staffing Services for Mark Twain Medical Center.
Plan and forecast department budgets, including calculating FTE, operating budget planning, capital planning, interpreting financial reports from payroll & accounts payable, and interpreting productivity reports.
Manage human resources, including knowledge of union contract, employee wage structure, and employee benefits.
Analyze budget variances, including submitting correction action plans for budget, overtime, and productivity variances, and analyzing variances from monthly department responsibility reports.
Identify critical success factors for the department, including departmental goal development; manager goal development and customer service models for department.
Job Requirements
Bachelor of Nursing in Nursing or related healthcare field.
Three (3) to five (5) years of current nursing management experience or comparable combination of education and experience.
Experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Registered Nurse: CA.
Basic Life Support - CPR, from the American Heart Association.
Preferred
Masters Degree.
