Overview Responsible for providing personalized holistic student support and coaching.
The Student Success Coach creates learning opportunities, monitors student persistence and progression toward graduation using advising technology, and ensures compliance with degree program requirements, college policy, and federal and state regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Provides personalized holistic support and coaching to students, recommending Valencia resources (academic, non‑academic, and community) to support academic and career success.
Serves as the point of contact for assigned cohorts, guiding students through college policies, procedures, and institutional resources.
Leverages technology to facilitate a cohort‑based coaching model, tracking outreach, engagement, and outcomes.
Supports students in developing educational plans, evaluating placement tests, degree audits, and transfer credits, and advising on course selections and degree pathways.
Delivers holistic coaching via group, one‑to‑one, and online modalities as student needs and campus trends require.
Manages and analyzes caseload data to monitor academic progress, maintaining accurate records and making referrals as needed.
Collaborates with leadership to develop proactive strategies that improve student experience, persistence, and graduation objectives.
Develops and facilitates educational opportunities (events, presentations, information sessions) to enhance learning outcomes and engagement, participating in the new student onboarding experience.
Participates in departmental, advisory, and curriculum meetings to stay current on program developments and policy updates.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Required Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Ability to assess student developmental needs and translate theory into practice.
Strong adherence to advising protocols and the ability to facilitate advising programs appropriately.
Authentic person‑centered advising with strong interpersonal communication.
Knowledge of college educational policies and graduation requirements.
Ability to research university policies and graduation requirements as needed.
Collaborative skills to resolve student issues with other departments.
Continuous learning aptitude to interpret and explain changes in federal, state, college policies, regulations, and technology.
Working Conditions This job primarily operates in a professional office environment, using standard office equipment (computers, keyboards, mice, phones, printers, etc.).
The environment is quiet to moderate, with typical physical demands including staying stationary, moving, reaching, lifting 5–15 lbs, and occasional office tasks.
The role requires frequent communication, attention to detail, discretion, judgement, and problem‑solving.
Reasonable accommodations are available to qualify candidates.
Schedule Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. (exact hours to be determined after hiring).
Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
