Recreation Specialist I

This position is budgeted to start within the range of $18.94 - $22.72. This is a PERS (Public Agency Retirement System) budgeted position and is limited to 1,500 hours per fiscal year. The Community Services Department is currently recruiting for a Recreation Specialist I at the Escondido Sports Center. This thriving sports facility includes two roller hockey arenas, one regulation-sized soccer arena, and one "mini" soccer arena. The anticipated schedule will be Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Community Services Supervisor at the Escondido Sports Center, maintain positive relationships with team managers, participants, and other entities. Provide assistance as needed to fellow employees for special programs, daily tasks, and events. Provide excellent customer service. Work closely with the Community Services Supervisor in creation and management of sports leagues, tournaments, and schedules. Attend meetings, distribute equipment, and review policies and procedures. Assist with the collection of paperwork. Attend games and activities. Maintain inventory and quality of equipment. Update and distribute league information to players and managers. Monitor facility and all activities to assure safety and security of public and staff. Serve as the initial point of contact for emergency and injury reporting; administer basic First Aid, as necessary. Ensure that all programs are running smoothly and efficiently. Promote programs and events to customers. Responsible for training and monitoring scorekeepers Make pre-game announcements and updates when necessary. Performs other duties as assigned. The ideal candidate for this position will: Work well in a team environment, and display good customer service skills. Have a depth knowledge in team sports Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Have the ability to lift 50 lbs. Minimum requirements: 18 years of age. Be able to obtain current First Aid/CPR certifications within 30 days of hire. Note:
