Hoisting Foreman (Lift Director) (Union)

Role Summary The Hoisting Foreman (Lift Director) will provide day‑to‑day supervision of all hoisting activities for a project, including but not limited to properly assigning operators, training, assembly and disassembly crew coordination, and lift planning/scheduling. This position will also ensure all hoisting assets are maintained in good working condition and in compliance with inspection requirements.

Key Role Responsibilities – Core

Coordinates pre‑planning activities for assembly and disassembly components such as crew size, schedule, materials, types and sequencing of trucks and trailers, crew composition and verifies crew is properly trained.

Leads, trains, and organizes a dedicated assembly and disassembly crew and manages their day‑to‑day activities.

Conducts routine quality‑control checks of mechanics, drivers, and crew to verify work is performed per manufacturer’s specifications.

Performs daily job safety analysis and safety briefings with staff before work begins.

Collaborates with internal sales and management stakeholders to build a viable assembly and disassembly plan.

Provides direction on crane set‑up locations and ground stabilization needs based on hoisting requirements.

Works with Operations teams to develop a comprehensive hoisting plan for the entire project, including crane type, size, and configuration.

Communicates timely to ensure collaboration between internal and external partners and hoisting operations.

Creates job‑specific lift plans based on site visits and relevant materials, including blueprints and drawings indicating height, weight, and hoisting requirements.

Coordinates crane movements by prioritizing when multiple cranes are scheduled and de‑conflicting competing requirements.

Ensures maintenance and repairs on all equipment are performed according to manufacturer’s specifications and documented by mechanic staff.

Directs, reviews, and oversees complex rigging plans and critical lift documentation.

Performs and completes operator evaluations as required by OSHA 1926.1427(f)(1)(i) and OSHA 1926.1427(f)(1)(ii).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to perform work accurately, completely, and timely.

Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency in MS Office.

Proficiency in 3D lift plan software.

Ability to learn operating/accounting system for data entry.

Ability to assess and optimize assembly and disassembly productivity.

Ability to create and oversee a critical lift plan.

Ability to provide excellent customer service through positive interaction with customers.

Demonstrated knowledge of crane maintenance and repair operations.

Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team internally and externally.

Education

High School or GED required.

Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the above.

Experience

Five (5) or more years in mobile crane assembly/disassembly, operator, inspection, and maintenance/repair field required.

Working Environment

Valid and unrestricted driver’s license required.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

May require periods of overnight travel.

May be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold).

Frequent activity: standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching above shoulder, pushing, pulling.

Occasional activity: sitting, viewing computer screen.
