Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Managing Editor located in San Francisco, CA. The Managing Editor will oversee editorial operations, manage editorial calendars, and lead a team of writers and contributors to develop engaging content. Responsibilities include assigning and editing articles, maintaining editorial standards, conducting fact-checking, facilitating smooth collaboration between departments, and ensuring deadlines are met. The Managing Editor will also play a pivotal role in shaping editorial strategies in alignment with the organization’s goals and vision.
Qualifications
Strong editorial skills, including editing, content revision, fact-checking, and adherence to style guides
Proven experience in content strategy development, managing editorial workflows, and overseeing publication deadlines
Ability to lead a team effectively, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering collaboration
Outstanding communication and organizational skills, with attention to detail
Proficiency in project management and familiarity with digital publishing tools
Demonstrated creativity and innovative thinking in media, journalism, or publishing
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field; advanced degrees are a plus
Experience in media or publishing, preferably within a leadership or management role
Knowledge of the San Francisco Bay Area market and media landscape is beneficial
