Process Mechanical Designer

The Opportunity Tetra Tech is adding a Process Mechanical BIM Designer to our team. This position may be based in Orlando, Tampa, Miami, Estero, East Lansing, or Atlanta.

Your Role

The successful candidate must be able to use Building Information Modeling software (preferably Autodesk Revit), provide engineering drafting/design support for process piping and mechanical work on Municipal, Industrial, and Commercial water and wastewater treatment plant and pump station projects.

Work closely with Project Managers and Engineers to set up and manage construction drawings.

Prepare dimensional drawings, create and/or modify base drawings.

Revise and update existing drawings to reflect design changes.

Create and manage electronic document file structure, naming conventions in accordance with company standards.

Work a typical set of project documents from beginning to end with professional quality output.

Work on multiple projects at the same time to successful completion.

Follow CAD/BIM standards, whether the customer's or Tetra Tech's.

Work with project teams on drawings which meet and exceed the customer's requirements (bid and submittal phase).

Required Qualifications

Associate's degree of completion in CAD drafting or related field from a technical trade school, plus at least two years of related work experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Experience using Autodesk Revit for process piping or plumbing drawings while following client standards.

For Autodesk Revit experience, knowledge linking files, setting up plan views, using view templates, and worksets is preferred.

Additional Knowledge and Abilities

Excellent communications skills: Interpersonal, listening, oral and written.

Knowledge using Autodesk AutoCAD is a plus.

Skilled in PC usage and associated software including Microsoft Office.

Able to generate layout drawings from sketches and specifications.

Familiar with design parameters related to process mechanical piping.

Knowledgeable of standard drafting practices and procedures.

Able to work with minimal supervision, exercise independent judgment.

Able to efficiently schedule and manage time.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member.

Must be able to achieve generally stated objectives and requirements.

Physical Demands Able to concentrate for extended periods of time paying close attention to detail. The work environment does not require much physical movement. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit.
