Job Summary The Senior Renewal Specialist is a production‑focused role within the renewal department responsible for managing general liability and bond renewals, supporting client retention, and assisting with operational initiatives when needed. This position reflects an evolution from the prior Compliance Supervisor structure as organizational responsibilities have shifted across departments. The role is no longer supervisory in nature and instead focuses on renewal production, retention, and technical expertise within contractor insurance programs. The Senior Renewal Specialist serves as a knowledgeable resource within the department, leveraging product expertise and industry experience to support renewal processing, assist with complex scenarios, and contribute to operational improvements when appropriate. The primary focus of the role is general liability renewal production and retention.
Position Responsibilities
Manage and produce general liability renewals with a focus on retention and premium growth.
Generate and manage the monthly GL renewal list.
Underwrite and process renewal accounts while coordinating with carriers to satisfy underwriting requirements.
Conduct proactive outreach to clients ahead of renewal to ensure continuation of coverage.
Review policies for coverage accuracy and endorsement needs to minimize E&O exposure.
Identify opportunities to improve retention and reduce lapse or cancellation risk.
Participate in the department phone rotation assisting existing clients.
Respond to inbound inquiries related to renewals, coverage questions, policy changes, and payments.
Support client retention by providing timely and accurate policy servicing.
Assist clients in updating policy information and addressing account needs.
Serve as a subject‑matter resource for general liability renewals and coverage questions.
Provide support to management with renewal reporting and operational initiatives when requested.
Assist with complex coverage or endorsement questions when escalated.
Provide feedback on internal processes to improve renewal workflows and retention outcomes.
Assist with internal training related to general liability products and carrier guidelines.
Help ensure internal teams remain informed on coverage updates, underwriting changes, or operational adjustments.
Support departmental initiatives and special projects aligned with company growth objectives.
Process payments received via phone, mail, or online systems when necessary.
Coordinate with service and operations teams to ensure timely policy processing.
Assist with department projects or initiatives as business needs evolve.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in insurance
Ability to work onsite in our Sacramento, CA office four days a week
Working knowledge of contractor insurance products, particularly General Liability and Surety Bonds
Ability to manage high renewal volumes while maintaining accuracy
5+ years sales experience, P&C insurance sales experience preferred
2+ years of customer service experience
Property and Casualty License
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational and time‑management skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Compensation and Benefits National Pay Range: $27 - $32 USD per hour. The starting hourly pay scale for this position is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on factors such as skills, qualifications, training, and experience.
