Position Summary We are looking for a Senior Quantum Sales Executive who will be part of our US Go‑To‑Market team whose mission is to bring IonQ's offering—including Quantum Hardware (Systems and Networks), Software, Applications, and Access—to a curated set of clients, High‑Performance Computing (HPC), AI Model Development, and Neocloud providers. This is a Senior individual‑contributor role with potential to build a team down the road.
Responsibilities
Infrastructure Partnerships: Develop and own strategic relationships at the executive level (CTO, VP of Infrastructure, Head of AI Research) with Neocloud providers, HPC centers and Hyperscalers.
Pipeline Generation: Develop a pipeline of sales opportunities focused on Hybrid Quantum‑Classical architectures, integrating IonQ hardware into existing AI clusters and Exascale environments.
Secure Networking: Lead the sales of Quantum Networking solutions, specifically targeting “Quantum‑Safe” data center interconnects and secure model‑training environments.
Strategic Qualification: Qualify opportunities based on technical feasibility, financial considerations, and strategic alignment with IonQ's target position in the AI/HPC industry.
Full Lifecycle Ownership: Own all phases of the sales lifecycle from initial architectural discovery to RFP response for government/private tenders, and final contract execution.
Internal Collaboration: Ensure support of the broader IonQ organization to successfully pursue high‑value opportunities throughout the sales cycle.
Retention & Expansion: Partner with Customer Success post‑sale to ensure high satisfaction, driving renewals and identifying opportunities for incremental revenue.
You'd be a good fit with
Industry GTM Tenure: Minimum of 10‑years experience selling to the HPC or GPU Cloud Infrastructure industry with quota‑carrying responsibilities and a proven ability to close $10M+ hardware or CAPEX‑heavy deals.
HPC/Analytics Infrastructure Sales: Experience selling Supercomputers, AI Accelerators (TPUs/LPUs/GPUs), or high‑speed InfiniBand/Optical networking.
Industry Network: Existing relationships within AI Labs (OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI), Neocloud providers (e.g., Coreweave, nscale) and Hyperscalers (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI).
Category Creation: Proven ability to sell “frontier” infrastructure—moving beyond standard CPUs/GPUs and convincing stakeholders/buyers of the necessity of Quantum Acceleration.
Complex GTM Problem Solving: Ability to navigate the technical complexities of data center integration, including cooling, power constraints, and rack‑scale deployment.
STEM Foundation: An undergraduate degree in Math, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or another relevant technical field (STEM).
You'd be a great fit with
Targeted senior‑level relationships: existing Senior‑level relationships with key decision makers in the neocloud provider industry and/or with leaders building the next generation of Foundation Models (LLMs/LMMs).
Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of the AI Scaling Laws and how Quantum Computing can address bottlenecks in training, optimization, or high‑dimensional data processing.
Quantum and AI: Understanding of how Quantum Algorithms (like QAOA or VQE) can be leveraged for neural network optimization or hardware‑efficient AI training.
Quantum‑Safe Networking Expertise: Experience selling high‑end cybersecurity or networking infrastructure, with an understanding of Post‑Quantum Cryptography (PQC) and Quantum Key Distribution (QKD).
Location This position can work onsite or hybrid from one of our offices (College Park, MD, Bothell, WA) or fully remote in the US.
Travel Up to 40%
Compensation & Benefits The approximate base salary range for this position is $169,869 – $242,612. The total compensation package includes base, bonus, and equity.
