
Investment Sales Analyst – Commercial Real Estate

Position Overview Northmarq, a capital markets resource for commercial real estate investors, seeks an experienced shared multi‑team Investment Sales Analyst to support our Multifamily Investment Sales platform. This role is based in the Westlake Village, CA office and supports regional teams across the United States. The Analyst must be intellectually creative, critical‑thinking, self‑motivated, and driven.
Position Responsibilities
Underwrite income‑producing assets using Excel, including:
Analyzing historical operating statements, leases, loan and regulatory agreements, and current market conditions to determine financial underwriting assumptions.
Review, analyze, comprehend, abstract, and interpret various types of real estate documents.
Identify critical property‑level financial issues and recommend value‑add opportunities.
Create evaluations of properties and conduct sensitivity analyses.
Develop compelling narratives around the property to effectively showcase the investment opportunity to industry professionals.
Present analysis results to producers with a range of financial acumen.
Plan, schedule, and prioritize workload to best utilize time and manage daily tasks including research, financial analysis, and underwriting for multiple offices/producers.
What We’re Looking For
Minimum 2 years of relatable experience; a financial analysis background is required.
Four‑year college degree, preferably in real estate, finance, accounting, or business.
Strong understanding of finance analytical skills, financial terms, and principles required in real estate underwriting, including DCF, IRR, NPV, TVM, ROE, etc. Knowledge of Salesforce, ARGUS, and InDesign is a plus.
Ability to analyze, research, and underwrite multifamily assets across multiple markets.
Resourceful with strong initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent verbal communication skills – ability to interact effectively and professionally with internal and external parties.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask under pressure and solve problems.
Strong work ethic and willingness to work extended hours when necessary.
