Position Description: We are open to hiring at either the Tax Analyst or Senior Tax Analyst level depending on experience.
The Analyst supports the Manager and Director of Tax in the preparation and review of AEG Fuel’s US tax compliance. This role will assist with research and documentation of tax reporting requirements and participate in reporting processes to ensure compliance. The Analyst will support data collection for tax planning, compliance, and audit preparation. Responsibilities also include assisting with the preparation and filing of federal and state tax returns and collaborating with senior finance and company leadership as needed to complete key functions.
Duties & responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
Prepare tax workpapers supporting the filing of US federal, state, fuel tax, and sales and use tax returns.
Prepare, review, and post journal entries and process related tax payments.
Assist with monthly tax account reconciliations, including fuel tax and sales and use tax accounts.
Monitor, research, and analyze tax issues, including fuel tax and sales and use tax, to stay current on applicable laws, regulations, and rulings.
Ensure compliance with internal controls over financial reporting.
Assist in coordinating company filings during tax audits by responding to government information and document requests.
Respond to notices of proposed adjustments and maintain accounting and tax records to support filed returns and financial statement entries during audits.
Recommended Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Tax preferred.
At least 3 to 7+ years of US tax experience in public accounting and or corporate tax, including US indirect tax.
Hands on experience with sales and use tax is required.
Experience with fuel tax is a plus.
Experience with SAP is a plus.
Previous airline, aviation, or petroleum industry experience preferred.
Well organized with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
Ability to handle confidential information.
