SUMMARY
Avon Old Farms School is seeking a creative, organized, and highly collaborative Social Media Manager to oversee and grow our athletics social media presence. This role will manage seven official Avon Old Farms athletics social media accounts, producing engaging content that highlights our teams, athletes, coaches, and game‑day energy.
Location: Avon, CT (Hybrid – On‑Campus + Remote Flexibility) Job Type: Independent Contractor – Part‑Time (August through May) Start Date: ASAP
Salary Range: $25,000.00 to $35,000.00 Annually
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage and maintain content calendars for seven Avon Old Farms athletics social media accounts
Coordinate directly with coaches, captains, and athletic administrators to stay current on schedules, storylines, and highlights
Game‑Day Coverage & Content
Produce and publish game‑related graphics and posts, including:
Schedule graphics
Game‑day graphics
Score updates
Final score recaps
Highlight posts and post‑game storytelling
Attend home games and selected away games to capture real‑time content (photo/video clips, short interviews, team moments, crowd energy)
Deliver quick‑turn content during and immediately after games
Creative Storytelling & Team Culture Content
Develop fun, trending content that highlights:
Team culture and personality
Traditions and rivalries
Capture and edit short‑form video content optimized for Instagram Reels, TikTok‑style formats, and Stories
Student Sports Media Collaboration
Collaborate with Avon’s student sports media group in the afternoons (as needed)
Support students in content creation, planning, and execution
Help build a consistent and professional athletics content pipeline
Coordination & Brand Alignment
Meet regularly on campus with coaches, team leaders, athletic directors, and the marketing director to ensure content aligns with Avon Old Farms School’s brand voice, visual identity, and community values
Maintain an organized digital workflow for assets, templates, and content archives
QUALIFICATIONS
2–5 years of experience managing social media accounts, preferably in education or athletics
Strong photography and videography skills, including editing proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
Experience creating short‑form video content optimized for Instagram and similar platforms
Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for event coverage
