Senior Managing SAP Advanced Variant Configuration (AVC)

The SAP Advanced Variant Configuration (AVC) Lead will guide the design, implementation, and optimization of complex product configuration solutions using SAP’s Advanced Variant Configuration capabilities. This role serves as the primary expert on configuration modeling, pricing logic, and integration with manufacturing, sales, and supply chain processes. The AVC Lead partners closely with business and technical teams to ensure configurable products are accurately represented in the system and that end‑to‑end processes support efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.

Responsibilities The SAP AVC Lead will oversee the creation and maintenance of AVC models, including characteristics, classes, constraints, rules, and pricing. The role collaborates with product engineering, sales, manufacturing, and IT teams to understand configuration requirements and translate them into robust system solutions. It defines and enforces configuration governance, ensures alignment with master data and product structures, and supports integration with upstream and downstream processes such as order management, production planning, and variant BOMs. Additional responsibilities include supporting testing cycles, resolving system defects, documenting configuration logic, and driving continuous improvement to enhance model performance and user experience.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Hands‑on experience with SAP Advanced Variant Configuration, including model creation and rules development.

Strong knowledge of product configuration processes and configurable product structures.

Experience integrating AVC with SAP SD, PP, MM, and related modules.

Ability to analyze business requirements and translate them into detailed configuration logic.

Familiarity with variant BOMs, variant pricing, and classification systems.

Experience supporting system testing, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.

Strong communication skills for working with product engineering, manufacturing, and sales teams.

Ability to manage configuration governance and maintain high‑quality, scalable models.
