Operations Director, Age Well Community Council

The Operations Director provides strategic and hands-on leadership to ensure the effective day-to-day functioning of the Age Well Community Council (AWCC), a community-based initiative focused on reducing social isolation among older adults in Danbury. Working closely with the AWCC Steering Committee, this role translates vision into execution—building systems, coordinating partners, managing resources, and ensuring projects and initiatives operate efficiently, equitably, and sustainably. This is a 1-year grant funded position with the possibility of extension.

Essential Functions 1. Operational Leadership & Infrastructure

Lead the organization’s strategic planning process and implementation

Support the launch, coordination, and ongoing management of projects and initiatives

Ensure AWCC projects and initiatives are delivered consistently, on schedule, and within scope and budget

Serve as the Council’s primary liaison with relevant area agencies, government bodies, and community organizations to advance the Council’s strategic objectives

Oversee day-to-day operations across initiatives, partnerships, and administrative logistics including staffing, volunteers and AWCC meetings planning and materials

Coordinate shared schedules and communication among Council members and relevant parties

2. Budget, Finance & Compliance Management

Oversee financial management including budgeting, financial development, and grant compliance and reporting

Develop and manage operational budgets in collaboration with the Steering Committee

Track expenses, monitor cash flow, and support financial reportingOversee vendor contracts, consultants, and service agreements

Ensure compliance with funder requirements, contracts, and relevant regulations

3. Data, Evaluation & Reporting

Establish systems for tracking strategic plan, project, and initiative metrics

Manage data collection related to project and initiative metrics

Coordinate reporting for United Way, Steering Committee, and funders

Required & Preferred Experience and Education Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, public administration, social work, public health, or a related field (master’s preferred)

5 or more years of experience in operations, program management, nonprofit leadership, or partnership building

Experience working with community-based initiatives or cross-sector partnerships

Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills

Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and operational systems

Preferred Experience & Skills

Experience working with older adults, aging services, or health and human services

Familiarity with issues related to social isolation, equity, and community engagement

Comfort working in a collaborative, multi-stakeholder environment

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Cultural competence/humility and commitment to inclusive, community-centered practices

Salary Range: $70,000-75,000
