
AI & Energy Strategy Intern

Lightsource bp is a leading developer of onshore renewable and energy‑storage projects, focused on large‑scale solar solutions. We are seeking a Summer Intern to support our U.S. Portfolio Planning team in advancing strategic pipeline management and developing innovative energy solutions for emerging data center demand.
Locations:
Austin, TX | Denver, CO | San Francisco, CA Duration:
Early June – Mid‑August (~10 weeks) Schedule:
40 hours/week, Hybrid (minimum 3 days onsite) Pay:
$20/hour
What You’ll Work On
Explore ways to apply AI tools and automation to improve renewable energy pipeline planning
Analyze project data to identify risks, opportunities, and forecasting insights
Support development of more efficient planning workflows and decision tools
Research and model energy strategies for data centers using solar and battery storage
Analyze scenarios that optimize levelized cost of energy (LCOE) and reduce emissions
Help build tools or dashboards that visualize optimization results and support strategic proposals
What You’ll Gain

Experience working across energy strategy, sustainability, and emerging technology
What We’re Looking For
Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree
Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and data analysis
Interest in AI, data modeling, and renewable energy systems
Strong problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration skills
Passion for renewable energy and sustainability
$20/hour | 40 hours per week
Hybrid schedule with at least 3 days per week onsite
