The Department of Resident Services, Partnerships and Initiatives engages NYCHA residents in critical programs, services, and initiatives in the areas of economic opportunity, youth, senior and social services; supports NYCHA’s extensive network of Resident Associations, and connects residents to opportunities such as financial empowerment, business development, career advancement, and educational programs.

The Resident Engagement Department engages residents across all NYCHA Neighborhoods, empowers NYCHA residents to participate in decision-making processes, and ensures residents' needs and concerns are integrated into NYCHA's transformation plan.

Community Associate – Responsibilities

Strengthen outreach and engagement with resident leaders and the broader resident community by coordinating communications and scheduling through phone calls, email outreach, and follow-up to plan and finalize meetings and activities within resident programs such as the Youth Leadership Council (YLC), Resident Roundtable, Resident Advisory Board, and Citywide Council of Presidents (CCOP).

Draft and distribute relevant e‑blast announcements and notices to resident leaders and residents at large to ensure timely awareness and participation.

Support the planning and facilitation of YLC meetings and field activities by attending and assisting with the coordination of in‑person YLC meetings, events, and field trips, ensuring logistics are organized and activities run smoothly.

Serve as a point of contact for YLC youth participants and their parents/guardians, providing updates, responding to questions, and ensuring clear communication related to YLC engagement.

Perform daily data entry to update and manage program trackers, ensuring information remains current and organized.

Support administrative processing for program participation by collecting, organizing, and submitting required paperwork for incoming residents participating in the YLC and Roundtable.

Prepare clear written reports summarizing YLC and Roundtable meetings, events, and activities for internal tracking and reporting purposes.

Provide consistent progress updates to leadership by preparing and submitting weekly reports.

Provide support for additional program needs assigned by assisting with other related duties and responsibilities to support the overall success of resident engagement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community‑centered activities related to the duties described above; or

Education and/or experience equivalent to the first qualification.

Preferred Skills

Experience with public housing (Section 9) and Section 8 programs and residents.

Experience with administrative tasks, phone etiquette, and professional communication.

Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly.

Strong organizational skills.

Ability to analyze significant amounts of information and identify the most important issues.

Demonstrated ability to prioritize and successfully carry out multiple assignments and meet deadlines.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Basic computer skills using Microsoft Outlook.

Salary $44,545.00 – $51,228.00
