FluentU is an education company founded in 2011 that helps people learn languages with real‑world videos, including movie trailers, music videos, news, and inspiring talks. We have a website, iOS app (usually in the top 20‑50 grossing iOS education apps), and Android app. We’re a profitable, stable company with long‑term focus, and we’re proudly self‑funded. Job Description We are looking for a Spanish content editor, who can create useful and intriguing content for our users. Job Details Creating Spanish learning content: Curate Spanish language videos, transcribe captions, translate them into English, annotate words (define words and write example sentences), create vocabulary flashcard sets, and Spanish learning courses. Adapting new software: be ready to learn a variety of platforms through which we communicate and assign tasks. Previous experience with Asana and/or Slack is a plus. Cooperation: collaborate with other editors to find the best ways to provide language learning services. How We Work We’re a 100% distributed/remote team. All of our communication is text‑based (mostly via Asana) and we have a low‑stress environment. We have a flat collaborative environment. We make decisions based on logic/reason and prioritize communicating clearly. We can be direct with our feedback. Job Requirements A love of language education: passion for language education and belief in its transformative power. Knowledge of Spanish and English language and language learning: good understanding of Spanish and English grammar and structures. At least 1 year of experience in Spanish education/translation or linguistic fields: understand the Spanish learner’s point of view to create content. Strong editing skills and attention to detail: professionalism, accuracy in the completion of work. Ability to work remotely with a team: distributed around the globe. Self‑driven and productive attitude: ability to get things done with a high level of freedom and responsibility. Strong written communications: organized and clear communicator. Stable commitment: ability to work 15-20 hours per week on a regular, long‑term basis. Please note that there will be a test which simulates actual FluentU work, and that the first 90 days are a trial period. It’s just hard to tell whether we are mutually a good fit without actually working together. (Don’t worry, of course you are still paid as usual during the trial period).
