Brand Director
Purpose of the Job:
To provide leadership, strategic direction, and oversight for all branding, creative, communications, and marketing efforts at Hope City. This role exists to ensure that the vision and direction of the Lead Pastors, and the Executive of Experience Operations, are translated into clear brand strategy and executed with excellence across all platforms, campuses, and initiatives.
The Brand Director leads the Brand Department by overseeing Creative, Communications, and Marketing, guiding staff, contractors, and Serve Teams to work proactively, strategically, and in alignment with Hope City’s mission and values.
Experience and Knowledge Required:
Demonstrated leadership experience overseeing teams, contractors, or departments
Strong understanding of branding, creative strategy, communications, and marketing systems
Ability to think strategically while guiding execution at a high level
Proven ability to manage multiple initiatives and priorities effectively
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Experience working with creative individuals and cross-functional teams
Proficiency in Google Workspace; familiarity with creative workflows and tools
Experience in a church, nonprofit, or mission-driven organization preferred
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Brand Vision & Strategy
Uphold and steward the Hope City brand across all platforms, campuses, and ministries
Translate vision from the Executive Pastor of Experience Operations and Lead Pastors into clear brand strategy and actionable plans
Lead strategic planning, ideation, and prioritization for brand initiatives
Identify opportunities to improve clarity, consistency, and effectiveness of the Hope City brand
Department Leadership & Oversight
Provide leadership, direction, and accountability to the Creative Supervisor and Communications & Marketing leaders
Ensure teams and contractors are planning ahead and working strategically
Align Creative, Communications, and Marketing efforts to function as a unified department
Develop leaders to bring ideas, plans, and solutions rather than reactive needs
Oversee the creative direction of weekend services, sermon series, conferences, and major events
Partner with the Creative Supervisor to ensure creative excellence and brand alignment
Provide high-level feedback on creative initiatives when necessary
Ensure consistency and quality across all creative outputs
Oversee all internal and external communications including email, text, social media, website, app, and messaging
Guide communications strategy to ensure alignment with Hope City’s voice and priorities
Oversee marketing initiatives and contractors, providing clarity, direction, and accountability
Evaluate effectiveness using analytics and feedback to refine strategy
Planning, Process, and Accountability
Establish clear planning rhythms, communication structures, and reporting processes within the Brand Department
Ensure contractors and staff meet expectations outlined in agreements and role descriptions
Identify capacity gaps or process improvements and bring recommended solutions to leadership
Oversee brand-related budgets, special event resources, and marketing expenditures in collaboration with leadership
Collaboration and Partnership
Serve as the primary liaison between the Brand Department and Experience Operations leadership
Collaborate across departments to ensure cohesive execution
Support campus leaders to ensure brand consistency and quality across locations
