
Head Gymnastics Coach - Santee

Overview
The Head Gymnastics Coach is responsible for teaching gymnastics, preparing gymnasts for competition and progressing gymnasts’ skills in a safe and positive manner, while incorporating the YMCA’s Mission and Core Values.
This position will be coaching competitive team gymnastics, levels 2-3, xcel silver and gold, open to higher levels.
Schedule
Location: Cameron Family YMCA
Monday - Friday afternoons & Saturday mornings
Responsibilities
Conduct organized and safe daily workouts in preparation for competition
Effective and positive communication with parents, staff and gymnasts, including leading regular meetings with parents and staff
Teach compulsory and optional routines and current knowledge of teams’ code
Operate within the YMCA discipline code and code of conduct at all times
Provide assistance to program director in an efficient and productive manner on various assigned tasks
Maintain a safe environment at all times
Understand and enforce safety regulations and apply appropriate policies and procedures
Keep equipment in good condition by returning to storage area at end of class and notifying supervisor when equipment needs to be repaired
Stay informed about program specifics such as session dates, prices, classes, days, and times
Work with the program director to ensure all participants are registered and in the correct class
Maintain accurate records of class attendance
Distribute certificates of achievement and program evaluations to class participants
Show enthusiasm, leadership, fairness, and fun through coaching style
Immediately notify supervisor regarding participant or parent incidents
Attend training events and instructor clinics when available
Encourage positive social skills and appropriate behavior; lead by example
Possess proven and excellent spotting skills in all areas of tumbling and apparatus
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
18 years of age or older, licensed, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications
2+ years of gymnastics instruction experience required
2+ years of experience coaching competitive gymnastics and current USAG professional membership required
Ability to spot school-age children in basic skills
Knowledge of gymnastics equipment
Familiar with USA Gymnastics progressive levels
CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
American Red Cross
American Heart Association
American Safety & Health Institute
