
Procurement Director

Position Summary
The Director of Procurement is responsible for developing and executing the company’s sourcing and procurement strategy to support operational excellence across all locations. This role oversees supplier relationships, purchasing processes, inventory strategy, and cost management for rental inventory, equipment, supplies, and services. The Director of Procurement ensures the organization maintains the right products, at the right quality, at the right cost to support sales growth and exceptional customer experiences in the event rental industry.
Key Responsibilities Procurement Strategy & Leadership
Develop and implement a strategic procurement plan aligned with company growth, product assortment, and service standards.
Lead sourcing initiatives for rental inventory, event equipment, linens, furniture, tents, décor, maintenance supplies, and operational materials.
Build long-term vendor partnerships that support quality, reliability, innovation, and cost control.
Establish procurement policies, standards, and best practices across all locations.
Vendor & Supplier Management
Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with new and existing suppliers to secure favorable pricing, terms, and service levels.
Manage supplier performance including quality, delivery reliability, and responsiveness.
Maintain strategic partnerships with key manufacturers and distributors within the event and hospitality supply chain.
Monitor supplier risks and develop contingency sourcing strategies when needed.
Cost Management & Financial Oversight
Lead negotiations for major purchases and multi-location supply agreements.
Identify opportunities to reduce cost of goods while maintaining product quality and service levels.
Partner with finance and operations leadership to manage procurement budgets and forecast purchasing needs.
Track and report procurement KPIs including cost savings, vendor performance, and purchasing efficiency.
Inventory & Product Lifecycle Management
Collaborate with operations, sales, and merchandising teams to forecast demand for rental inventory.
Ensure adequate inventory levels to support peak event seasons and market growth.
Manage lifecycle planning including new product sourcing, replenishment, refurbishment, and retirement of rental assets.
Standardize product specifications where appropriate to support scalability and operational efficiency.
Operational Collaboration
Partner with warehouse, maintenance, and showroom teams to ensure purchased items meet operational needs and durability standards.
Work with sales and marketing leadership on new product introductions and category expansion.
Support new market launches and facility openings with sourcing and procurement planning.
Systems & Process Improvement
Implement and optimize procurement systems, purchasing workflows, and vendor management tools.
Develop reporting and analytics to improve demand planning, purchasing decisions, and supplier performance tracking.
Drive continuous improvement in procurement efficiency and transparency across the organization.

Requirements Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations, or related field (MBA preferred).
8–12+ years of procurement, sourcing, or supply chain leadership experience.
Experience in event rentals, hospitality, furniture, manufacturing, retail, or related industries strongly preferred.
Demonstrated success negotiating large supplier contracts and managing multi-location procurement.
