NJ Community Organizer Job Description
Responsibilities
Execute field plans to meet outreach and engagement goals
Build and manage relationships with allied organizations and coalition partners across New Jersey
Coordinate endorsements and joint advocacy actions, such as recruiting people to testify at the legislature, empowering voters to contact their legislator, etc.
Engage local elected officials, community stakeholders, and voters in key legislative districts
Identify and engage potential opposition organizations with outreach aimed at neutralizing or converting their opposition
Represent the campaign at meetings and events as needed
Recruit, train, and manage volunteers
Support legislator comment collection through connecting with voters in high traffic areas
Track and report daily metrics
Contract: Part‑time or full‑time, short‑term
Compensation: Hourly or flat rate, commensurate with experience
Location: Remote/flexible with in‑state travel required
Requirements
Strong commitment to the campaign’s issue and mission
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
New Jersey campaign or advocacy organizing experience
Existing relationships within New Jersey civic, political, or community organizations
Experience managing coalitions or partnerships
Comfortable navigating politically sensitive stakeholder relationships
Available for immediate start
