Responsible for the preparation, cooking, seasoning, and serving of adequate, attractive, nutritious, and balanced meals—including meats, fish, fowl, vegetables, fruit, soups, salads, desserts, breads, and pastries—according to scheduled menus and dietary requirements.
Schedule Days of the week discussed at time of interview. Shifts: 7:00 AM – 2:00 PM, 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM.

Job Summary The cook is delegated the responsibility to carry out assigned duties in accordance with federal and state regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
Position Overview
Handle and prepare food that is palatable, appetizing, and attractive.
Comply with meal schedules.
Follow standard recipes while making independent decisions in line with current experience.
Apply proper food‑handling techniques and understand food‑hazard risks.
Know seasoning and cooking times for various foods.
Understand cooking characteristics of different cuts of meats, fish, and fowl.
Estimate quantities of food required and apportion servings while monitoring portion‑controlled guidelines.
Prepare foodstuffs: peel, wash, trim, and cut vegetables and fruit; wash, cut, de‑bon, and trim meat, fish, and fowl.
Taste, smell, and observe food to ensure conformity with recipes and appearance.
Serve food according to dietary guidelines, checking each tray for completeness and accuracy.
Cook food: bake, roast, stew, and steam‑cook meats, fish, and fowl; make gravies, stocks, dressings, sauces, and soups.
Prepare cold meats, sandwiches, griddle cakes, cooked cereals, and beverages.

Qualifications
High school diploma preferred; minimum ability to read and write English.
Previous experience in the dietary department of a health‑care facility preferred.
Ability to prepare and cook a variety of foods in large quantities; awareness of special diets, seasoning requirements, cooking times, temperature controls.
Ability to estimate quantities of food required, limit waste, and utilize leftovers while serving attractive meals.
Team members scheduled to work 24 or more hours per week are eligible for benefits; families of said team members will also be eligible.
