Location: Jackson, MS | Contract
Join a dynamic team supporting the design, implementation, and operation of a public cloud environment within a government agency. This role involves deploying and maintaining cloud infrastructure, assisting with cloud migrations, supporting integration with on-premises systems, and implementing automation and infrastructure-as-code solutions. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with infrastructure, development, and security teams to ensure cloud services are secure, scalable, and compliant with standards such as NIST and IRS 1075.
Key Responsibilities
Designs, deploys, and maintains cloud infrastructure on platforms such as AWS or Azure, ensuring high availability and security. Supports cloud migration projects by assisting with the transition of on-premises systems to cloud environments. Implements automation and infrastructure-as-code solutions using tools like PowerShell, Python, Bash, Terraform, ARM, or CloudFormation. Integrates cloud services with existing on-premises systems to support hybrid cloud architectures. Monitors system performance, troubleshoots issues, and optimizes cloud operations to meet performance and security standards. Applies security configurations, manages access controls, and enforces data protection measures in accordance with regulatory frameworks. Maintains comprehensive documentation of cloud architecture, configurations, and operational procedures. Collaborates with security teams to implement and verify security controls aligned with industry standards. Supports backup, disaster recovery, and incident response planning within cloud environments. Required Qualifications
Minimum of 5-6 years of experience working with public cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, including deployment and support of cloud services. Proficiency with core cloud components including compute, storage, networking, and identity and access management. Experience with scripting or automation using PowerShell, Python, or Bash. Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS routing and firewalls. Familiarity with security principles, access control, and data protection in cloud environments. Ability to troubleshoot and support cloud-based systems in an enterprise setting. On-site work environment in Jackson, MS. Preferred Qualifications
Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, ARM, or CloudFormation. Knowledge of hybrid cloud environments integrating on-premises systems with cloud services. Understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks such as NIST or IRS Publication 1075. Experience with cloud monitoring, logging, and performance management tools. Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions in cloud environments. Exposure to DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines. Strong documentation and communication skills. Experience working with Windows Server, Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu), and cloud platform OS. Knowledge of relational databases such as SQL Server and AWS RDS.
