Senior Director Of Systems Yield Engineering

Qualcomm is seeking a Senior Director of Systems Yield Engineering to provide technical and strategic leadership across our semiconductor systems portfolio. This role is designed for a deeply experienced industry expert who brings decades of hands-on and leadership experience in semiconductor systems yield, driving product quality, reliability, and manufacturability at scale. The ideal candidate is a recognized authority in systems yield methodologies, with a strong track record of influencing cross-functional engineering teams, manufacturing partners, and executive stakeholders. Location Requirement: This role is based in San Diego, California, with regular on-site collaboration expected. Key Responsibilities: Lead and define systems-level yield strategy across advanced semiconductor platforms, from architecture through production. Serve as a technical authority and thought leader in systems yield analysis, modeling, and optimization. Drive yield improvement initiatives across design, process, test, and manufacturing organizations. Partner closely with silicon design, product engineering, reliability, and operations teams to identify systemic yield risks and mitigation strategies. Influence roadmap decisions by providing data-driven insights on yield, scalability, and long-term manufacturability. Mentor and develop senior engineering leaders and technical experts within the organization. Represent Qualcomm as a yield and systems expert in executive forums and, when appropriate, with external partners and industry collaborators. Ideal candidate will have: PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related technical field. 25+ years of experience in the semiconductor industry, with deep expertise in systems yield engineering. Demonstrated success leading yield initiatives across complex, high-volume semiconductor systems. Proven ability to operate at both deep technical and executive strategic levels. Extensive experience working cross-functionally across design, manufacturing, test, and reliability teams. Strong executive communication skills, with the ability to influence at the senior leadership level. Preferred Qualifications: Industry recognition as a subject-matter expert in systems yield (publications, patents, conference leadership, or standards involvement). Experience with advanced process nodes and complex system-on-chip (SoC) architectures. Prior leadership experience in a large-scale, global semiconductor organization. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field and 10+ years of ASIC design, verification, validation, integration, or related work experience. OR Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field and 9+ years of ASIC design, verification, validation, integration, or related work experience. OR PhD in Science, Engineering, or related field and 8+ years of ASIC design, verification, validation, integration, or related work experience. Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits: $249,900.00 - $374,900.00
